Where academia met brand voice — and I made sure it sounded just right.
(Because great research deserves great storytelling.)
The Role
As Managing Editor at the Indian School of Business (ISB), I worked at the intersection of content, academia, and brand. My role was to bring clarity, creativity, and cohesion to ISB’s communication — translating world-class research into content that clicked with students, stakeholders, and scholars alike.

What I Did (and Did Well)
- Developed the content strategy for ISBInsight, aligning every article, post, and campaign with the school’s vision, mission, and intellectual ethos.
- Collaborated with faculty, researchers, and leadership to shape thought leadership pieces that were insightful, timely, and brand-aligned.
- Launched the web and mobile app versions of ISBInsight, making the publication more accessible and driving a significant jump in subscriptions and readership.
- Created a unified editorial workflow — from pitch to publish — that streamlined content production and improved quality control across formats.
- Built a cohesive brand voice across multiple departments, ensuring consistency in tone, language, and messaging in print, web, and internal documents.
- Bridged the academic–audience gap, making complex research engaging and relatable for industry leaders, students, and potential partners.
- Provided editorial mentorship to junior writers and team members, raising the overall bar on storytelling, structure, and strategic communication.
Impact
- Increased ISBInsight’s reach and engagement, expanding its audience base both within and outside the academic ecosystem.
- Strengthened ISB’s intellectual brand positioning by showcasing research in a way that was both rigorous and readable.
- Played a key role in digitally transforming ISBInsight, laying the groundwork for its long-term scalability and accessibility.
- Helped establish ISB as a thought leader in areas like management, economics, and innovation — beyond just academic circles.
Why I Left
After two deeply fulfilling years at ISB, I stepped away to prioritise my health and family as I prepared for motherhood. At 36, I made a conscious choice to embrace this new chapter with care — and while it meant pausing a career I loved, it gave me a renewed sense of clarity, purpose, and resilience.
What I Took With Me
- A deep understanding of research-driven storytelling
- A toolkit for cross-functional collaboration with academics, marketers, and editors
- Lessons in tone alignment and brand building within a premier academic institution
- And a healthy appreciation for publishing deadlines (and faculty review cycles)
