A Walkthrough of Figma Config 2025 (for the Creatively Curious and Commercially Inclined)
Spoiler alert: I spent the weekend binge-watching Config 2025. Yes, willingly. No, I’m not seeking help.
Held on May 7 in San Francisco (with a London encore on May 14), this wasn’t just Figma’s annual coming-of-age party—it was a full-blown graduation ceremony into the world of end-to-end design-to-shipping ecosystems. With 8,500 attendees and four new product launches1, Figma’s message was loud and clear: Design is no longer a silo—it’s the stage.

Officially badged, virtually buzzing: Just me, a screen, and 8,499 other design nerds tuning into the Figmaverse.
The Mission: Build, Ship, Repeat
Figma CEO Dylan Field wasn’t playing coy: “Design is a differentiator that will make great companies and products stand out”2.
And to do that, Figma is no longer content being a design tool. It’s evolving into a platform. A one-stop shop for designers, developers, marketers, your mom, and that random guy who still thinks Photoshop is a lifestyle.
As of Q4 2024, two-thirds of Figma users don’t identify as designers2—with 30% identifying as developers. So Figma’s new features? They’re made for everyone who touches the product.
